Introduction
What Lucky Dog is, and who it is for
Lucky Dog is a desktop app for keeping track of an investment portfolio that spans markets: A-shares, Hong Kong and US stocks, ETFs, mutual funds, cash and crypto. It runs on macOS, Windows and Linux, and keeps everything in one database on your own computer.
It is built for someone who manages their own money and wants more than a spreadsheet: a plan for every position, a record of why each decision was made, and an assistant that can read all of it.
What it does
- Holdings and trades across markets, valued in RMB at live exchange rates, with daily snapshots for returns, attribution and allocation.
- A dossier per asset: a structured plan (when to add, target weight, how to buy and sell, what would prove you wrong), a valuation band, and an append-only timeline of reviews, earnings notes and trade rationale.
- A watchlist with price or event triggers, staged buy points (which can be formulas over consensus estimates) and live distance to each trigger.
- A calendar of earnings, ex-dividend dates and macro releases for everything you hold or watch, with a reminder the evening before.
- Crypto exchange accounts synced through read-only API keys, open perpetual positions with liquidation alerts, and a local copy of your futures history.
- Checks and reviews: portfolio rules checked daily, and a quarterly review of how closely your trades followed your plans.
- An AI assistant inside the app, and an MCP server so that Claude and other AI clients can read and update your portfolio.
Where to go next
- Getting started - install it and add your first holdings.
- Features - a tour of each part of the app.
- AI and MCP - the built-in assistant and connecting other AI clients.
- Data and privacy - what stays on your computer and what goes out.
