AI and MCP
The built-in assistant, and connecting Claude or another AI client
The built-in assistant
AI → AI assistant is a chat that can read your holdings, plans and market data through the same tools the MCP server exposes. Under Settings → AI model, pick a provider - DeepSeek, OpenAI, Anthropic (Claude), Google (Gemini), Qwen, Kimi, GLM, OpenRouter, or any OpenAI-compatible endpoint such as a local Ollama - add its API key and choose a model. Each provider keeps its own key, so switching back and forth needs no re-entry. The model has to support tool calling.
It answers with skills when one fits: folders with a SKILL.md that
describe a method, such as a valuation checklist or a daily routine. It picks
them up from three places:
- skills you create in the app;
.agents/skills/in a working folder you open from the chat;~/.agents/skills/, shared with other AI tools on your computer.
Opening a working folder also lets the assistant read files in it - CSVs, reports, notes - and nothing outside it.
Advice & memory collects the trade suggestions it writes and the preferences it remembers; Research keeps long-form write-ups.
The MCP server
Lucky Dog runs an MCP server on your own computer, so Claude or any other MCP client can work with your portfolio:
http://127.0.0.1:38473/mcpIt listens on 127.0.0.1 only, and can be turned off under Settings →
Advanced → Local Agent API. The address is shown there with a copy button; if
the port is taken, the app picks the next free one.
With Claude Code:
claude mcp add --transport http lucky-dog http://127.0.0.1:38473/mcpOther clients take the same URL as a Streamable HTTP server.
What the tools cover
About a hundred tools, grouped by what they touch:
- Holdings and trades - list, add, record trades, import, sync quotes.
- Dossiers - read a dossier, append to its timeline, set the plan.
- Watchlist and consensus - candidates, triggers, formula buy points.
- Market data - quotes, K-lines, screening, financials, historical PE / PB percentiles, earnings, A-share unlocks and pledges.
- Portfolio - returns, allocation, health rules, exposure groups, valuation bands, today's movers.
- Calendar, alerts and notifications.
- Crypto - balances, positions, futures history, funding rates.
- Research, memory and advice.
Writes ask first
A tool that changes your data asks you to confirm in the client before it runs, when the client supports it. Every call, read or write, is logged under AI → Tool calls with how it was confirmed.
If your client declines every prompt without showing it, turn on Write without confirmation under Settings → Advanced. Writes still land in the log, marked as not confirmed.
